pro(t)rest

project description, credits,,,,,

The performance “Prot(r)est”, or “InDANCE: exploring accessibility through Inclusive DANCE,” brings together ten dancers—with and without disabilities—from different parts of Europe, all with experience in dance and accessibility, in collaboration with the Greek collective EXIS. Together, they create an outdoor site-specific performance focused on the theme of “Accessibility in the City.” Moving through various spaces in Athens, they invite the audience into a multisensory experience that highlights the role of accessibility and the presence of art in public space. The work explores how cities can become more inclusive and how movement can engage diverse bodies and modes of perception.

EXIS is a dance collective working towards inclusivity, collaborating with both disabled and non-disabled people within the Greek context. The group supports access to artistic creation and education, promoting equal opportunities in the professional dance field. Through moments of rest and slowing down, the artists propose an ongoing process of deconstructing and rebuilding the human being—directed inward, towards presence and awareness, in opposition to constant acceleration.

The project is co-funded by the European Union under the Creative Moves Europe programme.
