“Sodoma,” directed by Piotr Mateusz Wach, is an original reinterpretation of “The 120 Days of Sodom” by the Marquis de Sade, read through the lens of the director’s own experiences. Piotr Wach, a debuting young director, is an artist rooted in dance theatre and performance practice, known for his experiments with corporeality, ritual, and immersive form. He treats the body not only as a tool of expression but also as a carrier of social and political meaning. In his approach, the body becomes a field of struggle between freedom and oppression, desire and violence, individual intimacy and systemic domination.

“Sodoma” is a contemporary scenic ritual in which the order of libertines, the narrative of moral collapse, and inhuman violence gain new references to the contemporary world. The aim of the performance is to confront the audience with the limits of taboo, with questions of dignity and humanity, thereby provoking reflection on what still remains hidden and unacceptable. Wach’s “Sodoma” is not only a performance about deviance and cruelty, but also a metaphor for contemporary forms of violence, systemic control, and social trauma. It is both a bodily and philosophical theatre — painful, provocative, and intensely topical, a theatre that crosses boundaries in order to intensify experience.

“Sodoma” is about perversion, desire, and manipulation, but also about shame, humiliation, and ultimately freedom, the price of which is enslavement. During the performance, original pieces will be presented: “Practice of Pleasure” by Alicja Sędziowska and “Byk” by Wojciech Rybicki.
