mierdmaids ,,,
project description, credits,,,,,
Hybrid like the mermaid her(?)self. Emerging from the foam, it combines choreographic performance with a multimedia installation. Constructed around the relationship between sailors and creatures from the depths—exiles, disgusting and different. We mermaids, in the end, have no role in the ecosystem. We don’t exist and we don’t love. We don’t even know how many hearts we have, so don’t be afraid to break them.
In the face of ecological crisis, we animate rebellions. We will seek somatic interdependence, calling for love with drones. ‚mierdmeids ,,,’ is a reflection on the death of the Earth, which confronts us with challenges but also opportunities to create a new model of solidarity and collaboration.
It's enough to give us a name. We will be your mermaids. We will feel your desires as if they were our own. Your shitty wishes, we shitty mermaids, mythical failures. We will embrace the possibility that human life on earth is limited. We will rewrite the role of value in the context of capitalism in a post-human reality. We’re not afraid of failure; we’re homeless here anyway. In the end, only the vibration of absence and the bubbles of jellyfishes will be heard. They will survive.
Hanging upside down on hooks, we will reject the name you gave us. A dead name. We will critically reject identity; we have our own desires. Not to change anyone, but to change anything. Other worlds are possible, only if we destroy this one. We will put shells to our faces, which will whisper about multispecies acceptance. From ear to ear, the melody of rebellion and collectivity will spread. We will be imperfect and clumsy. With our wrists and necks, we will sniff in changes. Beasts and predators, nameless mermaids. We will love you vulgarly. We can’t do it otherwise. Otherwise, we will swim away.
