The performance 'Prot(r)est' or 'InDANCE: Exploring Accessibility through Inclusive DANCE' brings together ten dancers - with and without disabilities - from different parts of Europe, each with expertise in dance and accessibility, to collaborate with the Greek collective EXIS.
Together, they co-create a site-specific, outdoor performance focused on the theme 'Accessibility in the City'. Moving through different urban spaces in Athens, the piece invites audiences into a multisensory experience that draws attention to the role of accessibility and the presence of art in public life. It explores how cities can become more inclusive and how movement can engage diverse bodies and sensory realities.
EXIS is a dance collective committed to inclusion, working with both disabled and non-disabled dancers in the Greek context. The group promotes access to artistic creation and education, advocating for equal opportunities for disabled individuals in professional dance.
Through moments of rest and slowing down, the artists also propose an ongoing process of unbuilding and rebuilding the human being - one that turns inward, reclaiming presence and awareness in contrast to constant busyness.
This project is co-funded by the European Union under the Creative Moves Europe programme.
